Calories 5

Total Carbohydrate 1 g <1%

Vitamin A (33% [5,000 IU] as retinol palmitate and 67% [10,000 IU] as beta carotene) providing (typical analysis): beta carotene 5,625 mcg, gamma carotene 5.6 mcg, trans beta carotene 5.4 mcg, beta zea carotene 1.1 mcg
Excellent to include some mixed carotenoids, but not sure how significant the low amounts are. may just be from the little bit of foods included such as spirulina. No alpha carotene listed.  Retinol at maximum of top amount.
15000 IU 300%

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) Weak on other C family, rutin good, but only token amounts of Bioflavonoids and Hisperitin listed later. 1 g 1,667%

Vitamin D (as ergocalciferol) D2 form not recommended but used to make it vegetarian. D3 preferred form, greater efficiency and longevity. 400 IU 100%

Vitamin E (as d-alpha tocopheryl succinate) No 3 other family members as occurs in nature (beta, delta, gamma). By itself, even natural D' alpha tends to push out what little other family E members arrive from food. They have different functions to perform that d'alpha doesn't touch. 200 667%

Vitamin K (as phytonadione) This is K1. K2 as MK-7 would be a good addition. It is more effective for some functions and has greater longevity in body. 80 mcg 100%

Thiamin (as thiamin mononitrate) Synthetic B1, after 5 mg. there is very little extra absorption. 25 mg 1,667%

Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) Synthetic B2, best absorption up to 20 mg.  25 mg 1,471%

Niacin (as niacinamide) 125 mg 625%

Vitamin B-6 (as pyridoxine HCl/pyridoxal 5-phosphate) Synthetic B6/ Co-enzyme form might be a plus since it is only this form that is active in the body. Not sure if need more than 7-8 mg daily. Higher dosages act as diuretics. 50 mg 2,500%

Folic Acid Good amount for young woman. Synthetic form can be converted by body to natural folate  form. Upper limit may only be about 650 mcg /day. Have to know how many servings of fortified bread or cereal eaten daily as they each have 140 mcg. Negative for seniors if B12 is low.  400 mcg 100%

Vitamin B12 (as cyanocobalamin) 200 mcg 3,333%

Biotin (as biotin triturate) 300 mcg 100%

Pantothenic Acid (as d-calcium pantothenate) This is high, most probably eliminated 125 mg 1,250%

Calcium (as citrate/carbonate) 250 mg 25%

Iron (from spirulina, calcium citrate/carbonate) Don't rely on this amount if you need iron. Daily RDI is 8-15 mg. Supplemental iron can oxidize. This amount like no iron for men. 800 mcg 4%

Iodine (from pacific kelp powder) 150 mcg 100%

Magnesium (as citrate/oxide) 125 mg 31%

Zinc (as amino acid chelate) 15 mg 100%

Manganese (as amino acid chelate) *** 4 mg 200%

Chromium (as polynicotinate)**   Good amount, many have 200. 120 mcg 100%

Molybdenum (as molybdenum triturate) 75 mcg 100%

Sodium 15 mg 1%

Nature's Way Alive!® Multi-Vitamin No Iron Added Directions

Take three (3) tablets daily.
This formula uses the "everything except the kitchen sink" approach. Few of the many base foods are at significant amounts. There may be a slight synergistic value when they are all added together. But that would still leave a questionable value as to any specific action from the ingredients. A couple of spoonfuls of food probably has more nutrient value than the food base. There are better choices. the one benefit could be that with a serving size of three tablets, you could only take one or two and actually have a better formula dosage wise. Tablet does break down within 30 minutes which is a positive.

The vitamins are not all whole food vitamins. This formula would only rate a grade of  5 out of 10. It had real possibilities, but numerous shortcomings like vitamin D2 form and missing E family. If only take 1 or 2 a day, grade 6 out of 10.

Evaluation of new vitamin formula in the Andrew Weil, M.D. product line.

Out less than a few months, and already he changed companies that produce his vitamin line. A company (formerly Twinlab) that is owned by a multi-level empire with the Tony Robbins Group is now making Dr Weil's vitamins. Here are two of his formulas. One good and one only so so...

RightWay Notes: A very positive step in the right direction. Beta Carotene is natural source, plus includes many other carotenoid members; Lycopene- good amount, Lutein ok at 5mg for maintenance, need 15-20 mg if already have problems, and Phytoene, Phytofluene, Astazanthin, and Zeaxanthin.  A little low on gamma tocopherol, should be between 125 - 175 mg. Nice touch to include tocotrienols, at 17 mg little low should be twice that. BUT, research has yet to establish the proper intake levels. CAUTION: If also taking a multiple supplement with this formula,  you would have to add the dosages together and that might put both selenium and beta carotene in higher then recommended amounts.

** One mistake on label; Natural mixed tocopherol total at 167 mg is really the total of the next four individual tocopherols, not in addition to them.  Same for tocotrinols. Label should have read like this:
